Arne Slot believes that he still has the backing of Liverpool's fans after his side were booed off on Saturday. The Reds were held to a 1-1 draw by 19th-placed Burnley, with sections of the crowd voicing their frustration after the final whistle.
It's something that Slot has hardly ever experienced, especially during his time at Anfield. The Dutchman led Liverpool to only their second Premier League title in 30 years last season, his first campaign in charge.
That's why Slot is 'surprised' at suggestions that the faith in him held by supporters is fading. Speaking to TNT Sports ahead of Wednesday's Champions League trip to Marseille, the Liverpool manager fired back: "Do people not expect that to be possible for me? To be successful?
"It's new to me, but if you're one-and-a-half years in the job and have already won the Premier League, when the club has won it twice in 30 years, I'm surprised to hear that.
"But if that is the situation, then I have to accept that. I've tried the same things as last season this time around. Every time we've been a goal down, I've made offensive substitutions, and wherever I can, I am playing a team that is as offensive as possible.
"You cannot play attacking football with the amount of ball possession that we have. Sometimes, it's a disadvantage that we have that much ball possession, because then people expect more from the ball that you have.
"But the moment you don't have it, you have to press really high, because with a low block, you don't have ball possession. Everyone knows what we need to do in order to make the next step in this transition phase, but sometimes a bit of patience is needed."

Liverpool are unbeaten in 12 games since November's shocking 4-1 loss at home to PSV Eindhoven. However, four of their last five games have been draws, with their only win coming against Barnsley in the FA Cup.
The Reds have the chance to jump into the top eight places of the Champions League table when they face Marseille. A win would put Liverpool in an ideal position going into their final game of the league phase at home to Qarabag next week.
