Diego Costa says there was a manager at Chelsea that none of the players liked

Diego Costa will go down as a Chelsea legend for all he did at Stamford Bridge, but it wasn’t all smiles, he has now revealed.

Gone are the days of Chelsea having a consistent 30-goal-a-season striker like Diego Costa and Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge, with goals much harder to come by.

Even Liam Delap admits he wishes he could have played with Diego Costa at Chelsea.

Delap has struggled to gain any kind of consistency since making the move to Chelsea, as well as struggling with an injury and discipline issues.

Joao Pedro has impressed, but he’s not the same profile as a Diego Costa.

Diego Costa claims Antonio Conte was disliked at Chelsea

Chelsea fans are well aware of the fiery nature of Diego Costa from his time at Stamford Bridge. But his discipline record is actually a good one, with just one red card in his 120 appearances.

However, the antics behind the scenes must have been a spectacle, especially as he has now described a former Chelsea manager as ‘angry’.

Speaking on the Obi One podcast, Costa claims that Antonio Conte thought he knew everything and that none of the players liked him at Chelsea.

“He’s a person who doesn’t trust others. He thinks he knows everything. You don’t enjoy training with him.

“He’s always angry, always with a long face. Nobody liked him. That’s why he didn’t last long.”

Antonio Conte’s record as Chelsea manager

Antonio Conte arrived in 2016 following a disastrous 10th-place finish for the Blues and immediately transformed them into record-breaking champions.

The Italian won a major trophy in each of his two seasons at Stamford Bridge, scooping up the Premier League trophy in his debut season. As well as defeating former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United 1-0 in the FA Cup final in his last game as the Blues boss.

Let’s not forget his record-breaking personal achievement, too, becoming the first manager in history to win three consecutive Manager of the Month awards.
