West Ham are said to have checked on the availability of a Chelsea player as they look to strengthen further.

West Ham are said to have asked about a wantaway Chelsea star as they look to boost their survival hopes with new signings this month. The Hammers have reduced the gap between them and safety to five points after a big away win over Tottenham, but they still have a lot of work to do.

And that looks to be West Ham’s only real option, with Leeds United looking as though they will pull away from the relegation battle. New signings are vital for West Ham if they are to turn their season around, with this squad having started the season looking very inadequate.

The arrivals of Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe have helped boost confidence, but it looks as though Lucas Paqueta will depart in what will be a big blow to the Iron’s attacking capabilities.

That’s something West Ham are going to have to address, but they are also said to be looking at signing a new centre-back, and there are now reports that they have checked in with Chelsea over a possible deal.

According to the Daily Mail, the Iron have asked about the conditions of a deal involving Chelsea star Axel Disasi. The centre-back has been frozen out at Stamford Bridge and he is looking for a new club this month, be it on loan or on a permanent deal, with the latter of those two options likely preferred.

Disasi is said to have an asking price of between £25million and £30million, with the Blues having paid £38.5million to sign him. Though, they are not going to make that money back given they have made it clear they don’t want the centre-back.

Rosenior on Disasi availability

New Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has said he will welcome Disasi back to first-team training, with the defender having been exiled by Enzo Maresca. He said: “My decision on Axel; I had a really good meeting with him a couple of days ago. It was only right for me to chat with him. He’s behind in terms of his fitness, his match fitness and we’ll work with him.”

Even with that, Chelsea are still likely to cash in on Disasi if they can, and even if they don’t get a permanent offer, given the defender’s fitness situation, they might like the idea of him going out and getting fitness with another club, both improving his match condition and getting in the shop window ahead of the summer.

Rodriguez could leave

Elsewhere, West Ham could bid goodbye - or at least for now - to out of favour midfielder Guido Rodriguez. The Daily Mail say the Argentine is the subject of a loan enquiry from LaLiga strugglers Valencia this month.

West Ham may well be interested in offloading Rodriguez’s wage as they look to strengthen their midfield. Rodriguez has never really settled at the London Stadium, and while he has used somewhat, making six league appearances this season, he is not one of the first choice players under Santo.
