Chelsea and Arsenal jostling in race to sign Real Madrid superstar

Arsenal secured qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League with a 3-1 win over Inter Milan on Tuesday.

A Gabriel Jesus brace and a late goal from Viktor Gyokeres earned the Gunners an impressive victory against their Serie A counterparts, who had briefly drawn level courtesy of Petar Sucic.

Mikel Arteta’s side will now turn their attention back to the Premier League, with a visit from Manchester United ahead on Sunday.

The north London outfit currently sit seven points clear at the summit of the top flight standings, and Arteta will hope to see his side pick up all three points against the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

In the meantime, however, it is emerging that Arsenal are battling one of their fiercest rivals in the race to land a La Liga sensation.

According to CaughtOffside, both Arsenal and Chelsea are attempting to position themselves as favourites in the race to sign Real Madrid star Arda Guler.

The 20-year-old is enjoying a fine season for Real Madrid, having scored three goals and provided 11 assists in 31 games for the Spanish side across all competitions.

The attacking midfielder joined Real Madrid from Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce back in 2023 and has since made more than 90 appearances for the club.

It is claimed, however, that both Chelsea and Arsenal believe that the Turkey international could be available for a fee in the region of £85 million this summer, and the two London sides are therefore jostling to be frontrunners in the race to sign the attacker.

Guler is contracted to Real until the end of the 2028/29 season and, while Arsenal are said to have a long-standing admiration for the player, he has emerged on Chelsea’s radar more recently.
