NBA veteran and former long-time French national team teammate of Nando De Colo, Nicolas Batum, said he was surprised by De Colo's move to Fenerbahce.
Los Angeles Clippers veteran forward Nicolas Batum shared his reaction to his long-time French national team teammate Nando De Colo's move to Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul.
Batum said he was surprised by De Colo's move, but that it shows how competitive he still is despite his age.
"I was surprised. I don't know if he announced it would be his last season, but this shows his competitiveness," Batum told Tom Compayrot of BeBasket.
"He knew his goals wouldn’t be possible with ASVEL. He went to a championship-winning team and to an arena he was familiar with."
"He made a sacrifice for his family. I saw that his family didn’t go with him to Istanbul, which shows his passion for winning," he added.
Batum also stated that, for him, De Colo is the second-best player in French basketball history.
"For me, Nando is the second-best player in French basketball history. It would be great if he finishes his career the way he deserves," Batum praised De Colo.
At 38 years old, De Colo remains one of the top guards in the EuroLeague, averaging 13.8 points, 2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.
