He was asked whether he felt up to following in the footsteps of the great strikers who had led Chelsea to European glory before.

“Yeah, of course. That’s why I came to this club,” the striker said in quotes picked up by the club’s official website.
“It’s such a historic and successful club. We have such a good team and we’re just trying to find the right balance and the togetherness, and the way we play, to start winning and start getting the trophies back. We are all hungry for success and we’re all really motivated to win. So yeah, that’s the goal.”
It’s been a mixed bag in this competition so far. The 3-0 win over Barcelona was probably the high point of the whole season, but the draw with Qarabag which let two crucial points slip away was ghastly.
Chelsea need to win tonight – the door to automatic qualification is not yet shut, and dodging a playoff would be huge for a squad which is still competing on four fronts.
We reckon Delap starts tonight, and he has a great chance to get the goals flowing again.
In other news…
Raheem Sterling is still at Chelsea, and apparently the plan is now to sell him. Well, that’s actually been the plan all along, but nobody is buying. We’re not sure why the club thinks things have changed.
Chelsea’s focus this month seems to be on signing a defender, but according to some that’s not the only position they’re looking to strengthen this year.
