It would not be a stretch to describe the Los Angeles Lakers' comeback win over the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday as "historic."
Not only did Lakers guard and top All-Star vote-getter Luka Doncic surpass Nikola Jokic on the all-time leaderboard with his 52nd 30-point triple-double, but LeBron James flirted with a triple-double of his own in the 115-107 win that kept his one-of-a-kind season on course.
James, the first player in NBA history to take part in 23 professional seasons, is on pace to shatter Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's long-standing record of points per game from a 41-year-old player.

Jamea this season is averaging 25 points per game since his 41st birthday on Dec. 30, while Abdul-Jabbar averaged just 10.4 after he turned 41 years old on April 16, 1988. Abdul-Jabbar announced his retirement the following year.

It is not yet certain whether James is going to call it quits in 2026, or whether he will continue his career for another year -- or possibly longer.
Either way, each game James plays from here on out is historic, by definition.
