Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has been frustrated with several moments his team has had to endure this season — but he says the pressure on him is no different in this campaign compared to the last one.

In the Dutchman's first season at the helm, Liverpool won the Premier League title. The last few months, however, have seen considerably lower levels of performance with the Reds struggling for consistent results.

Arsenal has taken a commanding lead at the top of the table and looks primed to take on the title-winning crown, while Liverpool is set for a battle to get into the top four or five spots in the standings.

"I wouldn't say different; I think there is constant pressure when you are working at a top club," Slot told TNT Sports ahead of the Reds taking on Marseille in the Champions League.

"That was last season because then the pressure is you are leading by a certain amount of points. You know every mistake you make can lead to people getting nervous.

"There is always pressure and that is this season as well. We've given away so many points in moments where we felt we could enjoy something.

"Let's say the game against Arsenal, and then in the last minute, Conor Bradley gets such a horrific injury.

"Alexander Isak scoring a goal against Tottenham and we think, 'Now we can go'. A day later, three months out.

"Going 3-2 up against Leeds in extra-time, thinking this game is ours, and conceding the 3-3. Going 3-2 up against Fulham in extra-time...

"It's a constant situation where if we think there is something to be positive about, something happens where we and I am definitely annoyed about it.

"In the meantime, I don't think we are the only team that is not finding it very easy, because the strength of the Premier League is immense this season.

"I think there is not a team at the moment that has won twice in a row, this week and last week, so that tells you how good the league is."

Liverpool.com says: While there have been elements of misfortune for the Reds this season, as Slot has said several times himself, there is a need for Liverpool to get beyond that. When something goes against you, you need to be able to withstand it.

Too often this season, Liverpool has not reacted well to setbacks in games and things have unraveled. Though the tide has begun to turn in recent weeks, there is still much more work to be done.
