Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Martin Odegaard, Ethan Nwaneri and Eberechi Eze that you may have missed today…
Former Manchester United star and now pundit Wayne Rooney has backed Eberechi Eze to go on and become a ‘great player’ for Arsenal in ‘the next year or two’, as the midfielder struggles to make the impact many had hoped for.
ARSENAL managed to beat off London rivals Tottenham to get their man last summer and there have been weighty expectations on Eze’s shoulders to live up to his hefty price tag after impressing so much at Crystal Palace.
Arsenal fans have seen some brilliant flashes of brilliant from Eze since his move to the Emirates, But questions have been asked of Eze’s level of consistency in recent weeks.
The return to form of club captain Martin Odegaard means the England international has largely had to settle for substitute appearances, but Rooney has opened up and claimed that Eze will be a great signing for ARSENAL.
‘It depends on the game, depends on the type of opponent that we see and then performances,’ Mikel Arteta told reporters when asked why Eze’s recent playing time had been so limited on Monday.
‘Throughout the game, we see things we can do, how we can help the position more, and we have the ability to change that.’
‘To have that consistency of winning every week, it’s a big difference to what he’s been used to and that can be really difficult mentally.’
‘This season, he has to try and obviously get back into the team because he’s a fantastic player and he is trying to go to the World Cup as well.
‘But I think it will be over the next year or two that we’re going to see him cement his place in the team and then obviously become a great player for Arsenal.’

With all the quality that ARSENAL have in that squad, in that midfield, it was always going to be very hard for Eze to put in the performances that he was at Palace, he doesnt know whether he is playing or not on a weekly basis.
He is a quality player that got his dream move, he is a brilliant signing for the Gunners, but maybe he made the wrong transfer move?
ODEGAARD REPLACEMENT LINED UP?
Here is the latest transfer news and gossip as Arsenal could look to line up a long-term replacement for club captain Martin Odegaard, if recent reports are to be believed in the media this week.
Over the past few years, Odegaard has developed into one of the very best midfielders in world football, and one of the most important players that Mikel Arteta has at his disposal.

However – ESPN [via Football London] claims that Arsenal are targeting the signing of Real Madrid’s Arda Guler to become Odegaard’s eventual replacement in the midfield at the Emirates Stadium
The Norwegian hasn’t been prioritised by sporting director Andrea Berta for a new deal in north London. Instead, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice are next on the club’s list for negotiations after Bukayo Saka’s future was secured.
And while ARSENAL wait on holding talks with the midfielder, it has been claimed that some of the games biggest clubs could be eyeing up a move for Odegaard at the end of the current season.
IcFootballnews Says…
Odegaard is one of the biggest players at Arsenal, he is a man that the club can really rely on and a star that the fans will not want to sell leave the club. We are not sure why his current contract talks have been put on hold, but we are sure he will get that new Gunners deal.
Arsenal do want to sign Arda Guler from Madrid, that is for sure, but at the end of the day, losing a massive creative player like Odegaard would disrupt the quality that Mikel Arteta has and the Spaniard will not allow the star to leave.
But that doesnt mean that ARSENAL wont still try and sign Guler, not to replace Odegaard, but to turn him into the next creative star
NWANERI MOVE MAKES SENSE
David Seaman said Ethan Nwaneri’s loan move to Marseille ‘makes sense’ – but insisted he would stay at Arsenal if he was in the young midfielder’s shoes, as the attacker closes in on that move to France.
Despite being one of the most talented young attackers that ARSENAL have right now, Nwaneri has now been able to get the game time that he would have liked and he is now heading to France on a loan deal with Marseille.
The 18-year-old’s move to France will be a straight loan without a permanent option, but former Arsenal goalkeeper Seaman says he would still prefer to see Nwaneri remain in north London for the rest of the season.
‘The thing with Ethan obviously is that he got a taste of the first team last season and a bit this season, but he’s still young and he’s still learning,’ Seaman told talkSPORT.
‘For me, he goes out on loan if anything but if I was him I would stay where I am because you never know what could happen with injuries and things
‘With Ethan I would hate him to go anywhere else because he’s such a good player. Game time is what you’re after,’ he added. ‘When you are playing friendly matches and academy matches it’s not the same.
‘You need that game time and you need to have to make decisions in matches not just in training.
‘In training there isn’t any consequence so you never really learn a lot about decision-making, it’s only in matches where you learn everything about the pace of the match and all those sorts of things
‘So a loan at the most, but I’d still like him to stay there.’

There ate players that fans would hate to see leave on a permanent basis, Nwaneri is one of those stars that Gunners fans would like to see stay and make a name for himself in that Arsenal shirt.
But with all the quality that ARSENAL have in attack, this move does make sense
