The New York Knicks have struggled to win games in recent weeks. New York has lost nine of their last 11 games, including four straight. Recently, they got booed by their fans at home. That’s how poorly the team has been playing.

Over that 11-game span, the Knicks have the sixth-worst offense in the NBA. The bench has struggled to give New York the production that they have been seeking. Mike Brown has opened up the rotation more than Tom Thibodeau did during his tenure as head coach.

The big bench acquisition that the Knicks were excited about in the offseason was the signing of Guerschon Yabusele. They brought him in on a two-year, $11.275 million deal. Now, they are already looking to send him on his way at the trade deadline.

The Knicks Are Shopping Guerschon Yabusele

According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, the Knicks are looking to trade Yabusele ahead of the trade deadline. The deadline is in a couple of weeks, so New York needs to line up some interested teams. The issue is that they might not get much back in terms of value.

Yabusele has fallen out of the rotation in recent games. He has played less than five minutes in four of the last six games. That will make it hard for another team to give the Knicks much in return. He would likely need to be included in a package that would be part of a much larger deal.

Compared to how he played last season with the 76ers, Yabusele has fallen off a cliff with his play. He is averaging under three points per game for a team that has NBA Finals aspirations. Moving him to another team would not be a hit to their current rotation.

The Knicks Will Likely be Active at the Trade Deadline

With how poorly the Knicks have played recently, they will likely now be active at the deadline. They are more inclined to make some moves to improve the stability of the roster. They have fallen into a tie for third in the Eastern Conference standings with this slide.

New York needs some help with the bench. Offensively, they need someone who can help give them a boost when Jalen Brunson is on the bench. Karl-Anthony Towns has been getting a lot of criticism as well, but it would be much harder to move him with his large contract.

Defensively, the Knicks have just the 18th-best defense in the league. That comes from a lack of rim protection when Mitchell Robinson isn’t healthy. The perimeter defense has struggled a bit, especially when it comes to defending the pick-and-roll.

Standing pat at the deadline would be a surprise to the other teams in the league. The Knicks have been linked to Giannis Antetokounmpo, but it looks unlikely that the Bucks move him at the deadline.
