It has been a quiet January so far for Liverpool. Frustratingly quiet.
It seems the Reds are happy to hold what they have for the remainder of the season and address the holes in the squad in the summer — a decision they may well come to rue later in the season.
They might have some January business in store, but not one that will have any immediate impact on the squad.

Liverpool can cash in on Kostas Tsimikas with Nottingham Forest targeting
It hasn’t been a successful loan spell for Kostas Tsimikas at AS Roma. He has made just four starts in Serie A, and the Italian outfit aren’t too keen on keeping him.
Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, are interested in taking the Greek full-back off Liverpool’s hands, but this will need to be done quickly.
The Athletic’s Paul Taylor writes: “Liverpool defender Tsimikas is among their shortlist of targets. The 29-year-old, who began his career at Olympiacos, is currently on loan at Roma, but has found his opportunities limited in Italy.”
In order for Forest to get this signing over the line, he needs to come back to Anfield soon. Tsimikas is no longer in Roma’s plans.

He continues: “Roma would be willing to cut short the Greek international’s loan deal, as long as they can themselves source a replacement for him. Forest previously held an interest in Tsimikas last summer, before he secured his move to Roma.”
That could be a stumbling block, but Liverpool and Forest need to exert pressure on Roma. Then a fee needs to be agreed between the two Premier League clubs.
And all that with ten days until the deadline.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis also owns Olympiacos, the old club of Tsimikas. He’s familiar with the left-back, and that could be driving the interest.
A move to the City Ground would also mean linking back up with former Liverpool teammate Neco Williams.
With Milos Kerkez the defined number-one option, and Andy Robertson behind him, now seems the right time to part ways with Tsimikas.
Robertson’s Liverpool contract is expiring, but he’s guaranteed to be here until the end of the season.
If he then goes, it will be a massive defensive rebuild needed in the summer.
