Barcelona are continuing negotiations for Norwich City teenager Ajay Tavares.

Norwich boss Philippe Clement had encouraged the 16-year-old winger to stay at Carrow Road for the sake of his pathway but the pull of Barcelona may prove too difficult to turn down.

'A lot of young players are now training regularly with the first team,' said Clement last month.

'Ajay is a very interesting one on that list, and I know also that he played in the training camp in the summer with the first team, and he did good stuff there. He's very young. He's still very young.

'But, of course, we want to keep our best talents, because that's one of the important things for the future and the things we discussed with the owners that they want also players out of our academy to grow and to go in the first team.'

RB Leipzig, Dortmund, Bayern Munich and others have expressed interest but Barca are confident of reaching agreement.

Tavares has featured for the Canaries' youth team in the FA Youth Cup and in the Under 18 Premier League this season.

The youngster made his unofficial debut for the Norwich first team during a pre-season friendly against Dutch Eredivisie side Volendam last July under former manager Liam Manning.

He has four caps for England's U17 squad and recently scored a hat-trick in 16 minutes for the Norwich youth team against Malaga's academy.
