Arsenal dreaming of signing "generational" £86m star, he'd finally get Gyokeres firing - opinion

Arsenal went into the Champions League clash away to Inter Milan on Tuesday night off the back of a frustrating draw in the Premier League.

However, from the performance, you'd have never known that, as Mikel Arteta's side were almost faultless and came away with all three points without getting out of second gear.

Gabriel Jesus nabbed a brace on his return to the starting lineup, and even Viktor Gyokeres, who was poor on Saturday, got himself on the scoresheet with a stunning strike.

The good news keeps coming for Arsenal fans, as reports are now linking them to a hugely exciting talent, someone who might be able to get Gyokeres firing regularly.

Arsenal target dream signing for Gyokeres

Arsenal have managed to construct one of the best squads in world football over the last few years, but there remain questions over who should lead the line.

Gyokeres just arrived, but has underwhelmed, and while Jesus nabbed a brace in Milan, he is injury-prone and has had his fair share of bad misses in the past.

However, while neither one is making a great case for themselves, it would probably make sense for the Gunners to back the man they just signed.

Fortunately, they are also in the picture for a particularly exciting youngster who could help get the most out of Gyokeres.

At least that is according to a recent report from Spain, which claims Arsenal are interested in Arda Güler.

In fact, the report has revealed that the Turkish wonderkid is someone Arteta is a huge fan of and someone the club 'dreams' of adding to the squad, to take it to the next level.

However, the problem is that Real Madrid are not keen on selling the youngster, who himself is happy in Spain. Indeed, Caught Offside further report that it could take as much as £86m to prise him away.

Arda Guler for Real Madrid

It could therefore be a complicated and costly transfer to get over the line, but given Guler's incredible ability and potential, he is someone worth going all out for, especially as he could help get Gyokeres firing.

Why Güler would get Gyokeres firing

So, the reasons why Güler might be able to get Gyokeres firing again are the same reasons he'd be such an incredible signing for Arsenal.

The first is that he appears to be an elite creator.

For example, in 31 appearances this term, totalling 1879 minutes, he has provided 11 assists for Real Madrid, which comes out to one every 2.81 games, or one every 170.81 minutes.

Now, that would be incredibly impressive for a seasoned veteran, let alone a 20-year-old.

That's not all, though, as according to FOTmob, he also ranks in the top 2.4% of midfielders in La Liga for chances created this season, the top 3.6% for assists, the top 6% for expected assists, the top 9.6% for accurate long balls and more, all per 90.

In other words, the "generational talent", as described by journalist Dean Jones, is an expert creator who is only likely to get better in this regard as he gets older.

Therefore, just imagine this Arsenal side with a creator as potent as the Real Madrid gem; there is no way Gyokeres wouldn't end up scoring more goals.

However, even if the creativity didn't help, the fact that the youngster is a goal threat himself surely would.

For example, while he isn't prolific, the Ankara-born phenom has scored three goals this season, scored six last year and already has six in his 26 senior caps for Turkey.

Moreover, as some of these goals have been outrageous strikes from outside the area, opposition defenders would have to focus more of their energy on him and, in turn, leave more space for the Gunners' number 14.

Ultimately, he might cost a king's ransom, but Arsenal should do all they can to sign Güler, as not only could he supercharge Gyokeres, but he could make the whole team even better.
