It’s not every day that a professional basketball player chooses shoes from the buzzy Swiss sportswear brand On for their on-court style. In fact, this has never happened before, until Stephen Curry made it status quo prior to his January 20, 2026, game against the Toronto Raptors.

Though the latter team won, Curry managed to score 16 points, playing for a total of 24 minutes and 41 seconds. During warmups, fans couldn’t stop gazing at his fresh steppers, quickly identifying them as The Roger Pro Fire sneakers from On, which are currently going for $220 in Curry’s White/Pink colorway of choice.

Curry is, notably, in sneaker free agency after joining forces with Under Armour back in 2013 — shortly thereafter unveiling his first signature shoe and launching a personal sub-brand circa 2020. In the last few months, he’s been spotted repping Reebok, New Balance, and now On, with the latest reveal taking footwear insiders by surprise.

On’s first time on court (less acrylic, more polished hardwood) is nothing short of fortuitous, considering it was powered by a shoe that’s been co-created with Roger Federer. Curry and Federer have longstanding mutual admiration, engaging in a coin toss together at the 2025 Laver Cup and, the year prior, paying each other visits at Federer’s Today Show appearance and one of Curry’s GSW training sessions. It’s unclear whether an official partnership is on the horizon, but for now, the fact that On broke into the basketball world feels just as revolutionary.

As his sneaker free agency continues, Warriors’ Stephen Curry pulled up tonight wearing Roger Federer’s signature “On THE ROGER Pro Fire tennis shoes.”

The Roger Pro Fire, after all, is a tennis shoe, but it can handle multi-directional movements just like its basketball counterparts, focusing on impact cushioning and midfoot support — requirements of both sports. Further, On says the bestseller, available in both men’s and women’s iterations, is “engineered for aggressive sprints, stops, and slides”: featuring foot-protecting overlays and reinforcements, a Speedboard plate for optimal energy return, a decoupled outsole for better traction, and a comfort-forward padded heel. Flexibility and quick reflexes are key whether you’re Curry or Federer, and On’s The Roger Pro Fire guarantees both.

On was founded in 2010 by a former athlete, proceeding to become one of the leading options for runners, walkers, and casual sneaker appreciators alike. Everyone from Emily Ratajkowski and Gisele Bündchen to Oprah and Jill Biden has worn an On shoe at one point, and the brand won FNAA’s Brand of the Year award in 2024. Having pursued the tennis space with a passion (peep those strategic placements in “Challengers,” not to mention the entrepreneurial collaboration with Federer jumpstarted in 2019), On has also leaned into luxury, what with its viral Loewe releases in the recent past.

Now, the NBA is calling its name, and Curry might’ve just opened the door for something utterly industry-defying. Only time will tell — time that you can pass by scoring your very own pro player–approved On The Roger Pro Fire Shoe, as a start.
