Thunder vs. Bucks: The matchup

The Thunder got back in the win column with a dynamic 136-104 win over an Eastern Conference playoff contender in the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night. That win came on the heels of a Saturday road loss to the Miami Heat (122-120) that interrupted a five-game winning streak for the Thunder, who appear to be back on track of an uncharacteristic rough patch where they went 2-4 over a six-game stretch and 6-6 over 12 contests. OKC still leads the Western Conference and owns the NBA’s best record overall (36-8) and on the road (16-5).

The Bucks have large fundamental questions to answer about their short and long-term future, particularly how it pertains to superstar Antetokounmpo and his place as the face of the franchise. Even so, Milwaukee sits just a half-game outside the East’s top 10 teams and is 5-1 in its past six contests against East teams. Milwaukee is an even 4-4 in eight January games, despite playing six road games and facing five likely Western Conference playoff teams.
