A look at the injury news ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.

Arsenal return to Premier League action on Sunday when they face Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners picked up a big away win in the Champions League during the week, defeating Inter Milan, and they come into this one hoping to protect a seven-point lead at the top and to bounce back from a frustrating draw with Nottingham Forest last time out.

United kicked off Michael Carrick’s interim spell with a big derby win over Manchester City last time out, doing Arsenal a big favour, and the Red Devils are now up to fifth in the league, just one point behind Liverpool in fourth. Here we round up all the latest injury news surrounding both teams ahead of this one.

Joshua Zirkzee - Out

Carrick has confirmed that Zirkzee won’t be back for another ‘couple of weeks’, putting his return in early February.

Matthijs de Ligt - Out

De Ligt does not look as though he will return until February. Carrick has said: “Matthijs has been carrying a bit of an issue, but hopefully, we'll get him back in some time soon. It's been a little bit slower than what they thought previously.”

Riccardo Calafiori - Out

We now know Calafiori is likely to be out until at least the end of the month. Arteta has said: “He is progressing, but we don't know. I think it will be a matter of a few weeks, probably. We don't know exactly when.”

Max Dowman - Out

Arteta said before the Chelsea game: “Very similar to Mosquera. Very similar injury, very similar time frames, and both evolving really well, but they're not training yet, so they're still a few weeks away.”

Piero Hincapie - Out

Hincapie is going to be out for this one, but Arteta says he doesn’t know how long the centre-back will be absent. There is no sign of him returning here.
