**Federico Chiesa is an injury doubt for Liverpool ahead of their trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend, journalist Lewis Steele has claimed.**
The Reds secured an invaluable 3-0 win away to Marseille on Wednesday evening, going up to fourth place in the Champions League table.
It was a good night for Arne Slot and his players, with their unbeaten run now at 13 games, and it was one of their most convincing performances of the season to date.
The only negative was an injury to Chiesa that kept him out of the match, however, and writing on [_X_](https://x.com/LewisSteele_/status/2014117198449475747?s=20), Steele admitted that he is a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth:
_“Federico Chiesa withdrew from the bench tonight due to an injury originally from training on Tuesday that he felt again in the warm-up. Liverpool fly back tomorrow and unclear whether the Italian will be ok for squad on Saturday.”_
**Another setback in Chiesa’s stuttering Liverpool career**
-----------------------------------------------------------
Chiesa’s time at Liverpool has been frustrating, with injury problems not helping him, even though [Slot](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/46055062/liverpool-chiesa-totally-different-last-season-slot) praised him earlier in the season after getting fitter:
_“I see a totally different Federico now than from large parts of last season It is completely normal because he missed out on the whole pre-season and then came into a Premier League rhythm in terms of the amount of games and in terms of intensity. If he is more available then he has more chances to impact our results or his playing time. But then it is about him staying as fit as he is at the moment.”_
It does feel as though Chiesa is a big doubt for the Bournemouth game, however, and Slot will be relieved that he has Mohamed Salah back available again after the Africa Cup of Nations.
For the Italian, there is an inevitability about him leaving Liverpool, and it’s now a case of when rather than if, with a summer departure making the most sense.
Hopefully, Chiesa is back for the weekend action, but even if he is, a cameo role seems to be the best he can hope for in a Reds shirt.
