Jack Grealish took to social media after Everton confirmed he was to be reviewed by a specialist having sustained a foot injury
Evertonians have been left fearing that Jack Grealish is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he posted a message on social media.
Grealish, who became the first £100million English footballer when he joined Manchester City from his home city club Aston Villa in 2021, joined the Blues on a season long loan on August 12, after becoming surplus to requirements under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
The Brummie won the Premier League Player of the Month award in the week of his 30th birthday after providing four assists in his first two starts for Everton and he followed that up with Hill Dickinson Stadium’s first stoppage time winner to complete a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on October 5 and then the goal of the contest at Bournemouth on December 2 that sealed their first ever Premier League triumph at the Vitality Stadium.
However, after returning to action for the 1-0 win at his first club Aston Villa on Sunday after serving a one-match suspension for being sent off against Wolverhampton Wanderers for two yellow cards for dissent, Everton confirmed at 6pm on Tuesday that Grealish has sustained a foot injury. Their statement continued with: “Jack is currently under the care of the club’s medical team and will also be reviewed by a specialist in the coming days. Further updates will be provided in due course.”

Speculation has been rife about Grealish’s condition since and at 12:23pm UK time on Wednesday, Fabrizio Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Understand Jack Grealish will be out for 3 months with stress fracture in his foot. 12 weeks out for Everton star as tests made today confirm long break and major blow for #EFC.”
However, as published later on Wednesday, senior club insiders subsequently told the ECHO that Grealish hasn’t seen the consultant yet so any suggestion he had tests that day which confirmed the extent of the issue are not right.
The English international has now sent a wordless message to his 8.4million followers on Instagram that shows a photograph of him applauding supporters in an Everton game at Hill Dickinson Stadium with a broken heart emoji.
