Josh Giddey had time for a troll on social media.
The Chicago Bulls are heading to Minneapolis with some momentum.
The Bulls are fresh off of tying a franchise record 25 made threes, and have won their last two games. A small but meaningful response after a stretch that cooled the early-season surge. Still, the broader picture remains uneven. At 5–5 over their last 10 games, the Bulls sit ninth in the East, competitive but searching for consistency.
Thursday’s matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center arrives with that balance in mind. The injury report once again shapes the conversation.
And Josh Giddey remains the central variable.
Josh Giddey’s Status Looms Large for Chicago
The Bulls listed Giddey as questionable with a hamstring injury for Thursday’s game, leaving his availability in question after weeks on the sideline.
Giddey’s absence has been felt in nearly every area. Before the injury, he was playing at an All-Star level. He is not just a scorer or a facilitator, but the connective piece that organizes Chicago’s pace, dictates spacing, and gives the offense a natural flow.
His potential return would immediately raise Chicago’s offensive ceiling and offer clarity to a group that has spent weeks alternating between strong performances and stalled stretches.
Without him, the Bulls have relied more heavily on isolation possessions and secondary ball-handlers, often struggling to create advantages early in the shot clock.
Giddey’s questionable designation suggests progress, but the Bulls have remained cautious throughout the process. A final decision is expected closer to tipoff.
Bulls Continue to Navigate a Thinned Rotation
Giddey is not the only name on the report.
Patrick Williams is also listed as questionable as he manages an ankle issue, while Zach Collins and Noa Essengue will remain out. The combined effect has tested Chicago’s depth and contributed to the inconsistency that has defined recent weeks.
Those trade-offs become more pronounced against Minnesota.
Minnesota Injury Report and Anthony Edwards’ Challenge
The Timberwolves enter the matchup relatively healthy.
Their injury report is clean outside of Terrence Shannon Jr., who remains out. Otherwise, Minnesota will have its primary rotation available, including its most dangerous offensive engine.
Anthony Edwards arrives in dominant form. He has scored a combined 93 points over his last two games, including a career-high 55-point performance, and has dictated outcomes with physicality, confidence, and expanding shot range.
Slowing Edwards will be Chicago’s primary defensive challenge. That task becomes more complicated if Williams remains sidelined. And if Giddey is unable to return, more of the scoring burden will be placed on Coby White, Matas Buzelis, and Nikola Vucevic.
Final Word for the Bulls
Thursday’s matchup in Minnesota presents a clear test of where the Bulls currently stand.
Chicago enters with some momentum after back-to-back wins, but the challenge now is sustaining it against a Timberwolves team playing at full strength and led by one of the league’s hottest scorers. The Bulls have shown they can compete in stretches. Doing it for four quarters, especially on the road, remains the question.
Giddey’s availability looms large, but the assignment goes beyond one player. Slowing Anthony Edwards, managing Minnesota’s physicality, and maintaining offensive structure will determine whether Chicago can turn recent progress into something more tangible.
For the Bulls, consistency remains the goal.
Getting Josh Giddey back would be a meaningful step toward it.
