Welcome to a series focusing specifically on the schoolboys at Arsenal who are currently at Hale End – those in the U16s and below. The academy is based in E17, Walthamstow. The twelfth article is on Charlie Purdy.
A skilful midfielder, Purdy is currently part of Arsenal’s U16 squad and is aiming to be included in next season’s scholarship intake.
Purdy possesses superb technique and represents a significant threat from set-pieces, as shown by the superb free-kick that he scored for the U16s last weekend.
The youngster is hard working and has an excellent passing range.
He was part of the squad that triumphed against Aston Villa in the Premier League national tournament earlier this campaign.
Purdy has continued to steadily develop in recent years and is now established as a key figure in the U16 squad.
He was involved with the U17 squad at the Geneva Cup in August having previously scored for the U16s in a friendly against Burton Albion.
