Jamie Carragher's mum made a rare appearance on TV yesterday evening as the Liverpool FC legend appeared on CBS Sport to discuss Wednesday's Champions League fixtures, including Liverpool's impressive 3-0 victory over French side Marseille.
A Dominik Szoboszlai free-kick in first-half stoppage time saw Liverpool go 1-0 up on their way to gaining three points away from home. Goals that followed came in the form of an own goal from goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli and a third goal from substitute Cody Gakpo.
The Reds are now unbeaten in each of their last 13 matches across all competitions, the longest active run in Europe's top five leagues. After the European victory, Carragher read out a text from his mum Paula, live on air.
Speaking to former Manchester City player and fellow pundit Micah Richards, the legendary defender said: "Do you want to know what my mum has just said? 'Oh my god, what a win. Been the theatre with Angela, just seen the score'."
Richards asked Carragher to ring his mum live on air. He said: "Come on ring her, you've got to ring her, let me ring her."
After a back-and-forth, Carragher decided to call his mum to discuss the Liverpool game with her. She said: "Hi James. I've just seen the score, I said 'oh Angela, 3-0 they've won'."
Richards interrupted as he asked Carragher whether Paula knew she was on TV or not. After overhearing the comment, Paula said: "You are joking me." Richards took the phone off Carragher to speak to his mum on TV. He said: "Hi Paula it's big Meeks, how you doing?"
She responded: "Angela, we are on American TV. I feel embarrassed now", before telling her son she was "awfully sorry" and was going to put the phone down.
Carragher asked if his mum had a couple of drinks before answering the phone. She told the panel she had a "couple", before telling the American viewers goodnight.
CBS Sport shared the clip on their social media platforms and captioned it: "This might be one of the most wholesome moments in the history of live TV."
Commenting on the post, Nicola Carragher shared a laughing emoji with a love heart. Other comments included: "Jamie is really a family man, appreciate it."
Further comments included: "This is golden - Scousers are the best" and "Best clip ever. Jamie treats his mum so well, let's go easy on him... at least for a few days."
