Jamie Carragher and his mother enjoyed a heartwarming telephone conversation during CBS Sports' Champions League coverage on Wednesday evening.

The touching moment occurred following Liverpool's commanding 3-0 victory over Marseille, which strengthened their prospects of reaching the knockout rounds. The triumph elevated Arne Slot's side to fourth position in the standings, placing them in an excellent position to secure direct qualification to the last 16 of the competition.

Liverpool faces Qarabag at Anfield in their concluding fixture next week, with expectation of a comfortable win. Dominik Szoboszlai broke the deadlock during first-half stoppage time before Geronimo Rulli's own goal provided additional comfort.

In the closing moments of the encounter in France, Cody Gakpo's first strike in four matches completed a flawless evening.

Featuring on the customary Champions League programme alongside Micah Richards, Thierry Henry and host Kate Scott, Carragher was analysing his former club's commanding victory when he disclosed receiving a text from his mother, Paula.

"Oh my god what a win," the message stated. "Been to the theatre with Angela. Just seen the score, made up."

As he prepared to reply via text, Richards urged Carragher to ring his mum live on television.

Paula picked up and mentioned she had just attended a theatrical performance.

Carragher then informed her she was broadcasting live on American television, prompting her response: "You're joking me!"

Richards, who frequently exchanges playful banter with Carragher that becomes popular on social media, subsequently took the device to greet her, presenting himself as "Big Meeks" and enquiring whether she recognised him.

"Oh get away, I feel embarrassed now," she responded, laughing. Carragher then revealed who was alongside him, prompting Arsenal icon Henry to greet her: "Hello mummy, how are you?"

The studio erupted in laughter when Paula was heard referring to the Frenchman as "Tiary". Carragher's mum quickly apologised ad bid farewell, acknowledging she'd had a couple of drinks during her night out.

She concluded by declaring: "Good night America."

The moment has since gone viral on social media, with one fan commenting: " Jamie Carragher's mum sounds right sound!".
