Chelsea star considering return to Manchester - but it won't be for a Man City reunion

One of Chelsea’s most highly-rated players is considering a move back to Manchester - but not to the club that raised him.

Cole Palmer moved to Chelsea in 2023, having risen through the academy ranks at Manchester City and been promoted to the first-team. But like so many academy stars before (and after) him, he felt he didn’t get enough opportunities in the starting XI.

Since then, the 23-year-old has won both the UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup with the Blues, and helped England reach the final of the 2024 Euros, establishing himself as one of the country’s best attacking midfielders.

Capable of centrally and playing off the right, Palmer’s versatility and creativity make him an exciting player to watch, and one that Man City boss Pep Guardiola might now see as one that ‘got away’.

According to the Daily Express, Palmer is considering a move back to Manchester - but wouldn’t be reuniting with his old teammates at the Etihad.

The newspaper has suggested that the England international could instead opt for a move to Manchester United, should he want to return to his roots. Palmer grew up supporting the Red Devils, and the newspaper has claimed he is feeling ‘homesick’ and might want to leave London.
