Liverpool could face a fight to keep hold of one of its brightest prospects, with one of the club’s academy stars already following in the footsteps of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The right-back is of course the biggest name to emerge from the Anfield stables in recent years, having played a huge role in the club’s success under Jurgen Klopp and established himself as one of the world’s top players before making the move to Real Madrid last summer.

More players could be following him to the Bernabeu soon. Ibrahima Konate has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital, although reports have suggested Real might have cooled its interest, while one Liverpool youngster may already be catching the eye of the La Liga giant.

Teenage winger Joshua Abe has emerged as one of the Reds’ hottest prospects, despite only turning 15 last July. Although he can’t sign a professional deal until next year, the youngster has now signed with the PLG Agency, which is run by Alexander-Arnold’s brother Tyler.

The agency boasts a number of familiar clients, including Alexander-Arnold himself, as well as Andy Robertson, Jordan Henderson and West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen.

Replying to a post from PLG on Instagram welcoming Abe to the agency, Alexander-Arnold said: "Never in doubt," alongside a handshaking emoji.

Abe’s move to formal representation with PLG comes after he visited Madrid last month, with the teenager having been pictured with Alexander-Arnold and his brother on the Bernabeu pitch after a 2-0 win for Los Blancos against Sevilla.

He was also pictured with Vinicius Jr, having received a signed shirt from the Brazilian star and Jude Bellingham, raising suspicions that Real could be trying to woo Abe with a move to the Spanish capital.

According to This Is Anfield, Abe is also being monitored by Chelsea and Arsenal as Liverpool could face serious competition for his long-term future.

He made his debut in that age group back in September, and has gone on to make six appearances for Simon Wiles’ side, scoring and assisting in games against Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.

Abe joined Liverpool as an U9s player back in 2018, with Alexander-Arnold on hand to welcome him to the club. Since then, he has gone on to represent England at U15 and U16 levels.
