Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa missed the Reds' win in Marseille with an injury, and Arne Slot must wait and see if the Italian is able to take part in the trip to Bournemouth this weekend.

"Two or three minutes after you guys left yesterday, he stepped out of the training session," Slot said during his post-match press conference at the Stade Velodrome.

"We took him with us because we don't expect it to be a long-term injury. Because we stay here tonight, we are here a bit longer. We thought it was good for him to have his treatment over here.

"We were hoping that maybe he would have been fit in time but he wasn't. He tried in the warm-up and he wasn't able to play. That's why he wasn't on the bench."

Liverpool is without Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni at the moment. They are all long-term absentees and could miss the rest of the season.

Ibrahima Konate missed the win over Marseille due to a personal matter. He was in France but unable to link up with his teammates, with no timeline placed on his return to action.

With Konate missing, Joe Gomez stepped up and performed superbly at the Stade Velodrome, leaving Arne Slot very impressed.

"I think overall, I saw a lot of very good individual performances, as I saw against Arsenal, as I saw against Burnley and as I saw tonight," Slot said.

"The one I want to take out [and highlight] is Joe Gomez because he hasn't played a lot in the last one-and-a-half years.

"He suffered sometimes from injuries, sometimes I didn't play him when he was fit.

"A few times when he played were moments in [the] League Cup and FA Cup. Tonight he had an outstanding performance with an important role in our 3-0."

Slot will provide the latest update on injuries and absences in a press conference on Friday. Liverpool then travels to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

Liverpool.com says: Injuries have not been kind to Slot this season. It doesn't sound like Chiesa will be out for long, but Liverpool needs as many attacking options as possible even after Mohamed Salah returned.
