Karl-Anthony Towns' trade value revealed: Is it worth the move for Knicks?

Karl-Anthony Towns' trade value would reportedly be similar to what the Atlanta Hawks received in return for Trae Young.

The New York Knicks have reportedly been active on the trade market, exploring potential deals involving their star center Karl-Anthony Towns. However, the Knicks are not expected to receive a game-changing return for the five-time All-Star.

According to Fred Katz of The Athletic, who surveyed executives around the league to gauge Towns' trade value, the most common response compared it to the recent Trae Young trade.

"If you’re gonna trade KAT… I’ve spoken to people around the league: Where do you think his value's at? The most common response: Look at the Trae Young deal," Katz said on the Katz and Shoot podcast.

Towns has appeared in 41 games so far this season, averaging 20.8 points on a career-worst 46.9 percent shooting, along with 11.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

The 30-year-old has faced issues in just his second season as a Knick during the 2025–26 campaign. Towns has particularly struggled to adjust to head coach Mike Brown's system, as his offensive numbers have declined compared to last year.

Brown also infamously called out Towns for a lack of effort and urgency in last week's loss against the Sacramento Kings. Additionally, with 149 personal fouls so far, Towns ranks among the league’s most foul-prone players.
