Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate has revealed the tragic passing of his father, Hamady. On Instagram, alongside details of his funeral, Konate shared words stating: “From Him we come, and to Him we return."
The France international missed his side's Champions League win over Marseille due to a family matter with Konate now sharing the reason for his absence. Konate had been noticeably absent from Liverpool training on Monday with Slot later revealing the reason for his absence was due to personal reasons.
Slot later admitted to TNT Sport after the win: "No, first of all for the family matter, why he is not here, it is very sad for him." Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk added: "First and foremost my thoughts are with [Konate]."

Joe Gomez filled in for Konate at the centre of defence and did not look out of place with Liverpool keeping a clean sheet for the third time in six games. A Dominik Szoboszlai free-kick and own goal caused by Jeremie Frimpong sealed the win.
Those three points moved Liverpool up to fourth in the Champions League table with a spot in the top eight all but guaranteed as Slot's side host Qarabag in the final matchday next week.

Federico Chiesa is also doubtful for the trip down south after pulling out of the squad to face Marseille at the last minute. Slot later revealed he had actually picked up the issue the previous day and would be receiving further treatment in France.
Slot said: “Two or three minutes after you guys (reporters) left yesterday he stepped out of the training session," Slot said.
"We took him with us because we don’t expect it to be a long-term injury, so we are here tonight and a bit longer, we thought it would be good for him to have his treatment here.

"We were hoping that he might have been fit in time but he wasn’t. He tried in the warm-up but he wasn’t able to make it."
In terms of other potential absences, Conor Bradley has joined Giovanni Leoni in being ruled out for the season because of a serious knee injury.
Alexander Isak is also facing a few more months on the sidelines after suffering a broken leg in the 2-1 victory over Tottenham just before Christmas.
