The Telegraph confirms Mohamed Salah and Saudi Pro League news

Saudi Arabia circling around Mohamed Salah is starting to feel like an annual subplot of every Liverpool season. From Al-Ittihad’s failed £150 million push in 2023 to repeated briefings that the Saudi Pro League is “confident” of landing him at some stage, Reds supporters have grown used to stories of the No.11 being lined up as the face of the kingdom’s football project.

That interest has never completely gone away. Reports over the past two years have detailed how Salah listened to proposals from Saudi clubs before ultimately committing his future to Anfield, while league officials have consistently framed him as a dream signing with huge commercial and cultural reach.

Now, a fresh report from The Telegraph says Saudi clubs are once again preparing a major push – and this time, Salah will not be alone. According to their piece, Mohamed Salah and Vinicius Jnr are set to be the two prime transfer targets for the Saudi Pro League this summer.

The SPL has already tested the water this month, sounding out whether a deal might even be possible before the current window closes on February 2, but Liverpool have given no indication they are prepared to talk. Salah, who turns 33 this year, is understood to be weighing up his long‑term future and whether this season should be his last at the pinnacle of European football.

Saudi clubs believe the real opportunity will come later in the year, when several high‑profile contracts in their league expire – including those of former Liverpool men Sadio Mane and Fabinho, plus N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema – freeing up budget and squad space for another marquee wave.

Francesca Petriccione, a legal and strategic adviser to Serie A, Premier League and La Liga clubs, specializing in the Saudi Arabian market said of a potential Salah deal over younger players:

“Yes, exactly. The technical contribution and the global visibility that Mohamed Salah can bring to the Saudi Pro League is unbelievable. But today we are in a more mature phase, and this is not about football players going to Saudi Arabia for money and then leaving. This is about careers evolving and Saudi football becoming one of the legitimate stages of that evolution.”

Whether that finally translates into a Saudi exit for Liverpool’s modern legend remains the question that just won’t go away.
