Chelsea have just accidentally played a part in delaying£25m transfer

Chelsea’s own January transfer window is starting to kick into gear as we approach the final days before deals can no longer go through.

So far, the main business involving the club has regarded the end of Facundo Buonanotte’s loan. He scored just one goal for the first team.

Elsewhere, talks continue over the potential signing of Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, as well as a potential surprise loan signing of Douglas Luiz from Juventus.

Antonio Conte wants to keep Noa Lang to play against Chelsea

This has set Liam Rosenior’s side up for a showcase group stage match against Napoli, where a win will see them guarantee a path straight into the Round of 16.

However, their progress in this competition has actually had an impact on a transfer involving their opponents next week. According to CalcioNapoli, the Serie A side are against currently selling Noa Lang in order to have him available for that game.

This is despite the winger closing in on a move to Galatasaray on loan, although it is believed Antonio Conte wants him in the squad to face the Blues.

The Dutchman has featured in six Champions League games so far this season, for a side who are in desperate need of picking up at least a point against the Blues.

Chelsea vs Napoli has major ramifications

Napoli know they need to get a result next week to stand any chance of remaining in the Champions League.

As for the Blues, it will take the biggest result so far under Rosenior for them to pick up all three points, however there is an argument that this isn’t exactly the perfect scenario.

Chelsea could be better off losing that game in order to avoid the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich at earlier stages of the competition, even if it does mean they have to play another two games.

Despite that, it will be a serious statement for the new manager to make to beat a former Chelsea coach in Conte, and an opportunity he will no doubt be relishing to take.
