Draymond Green reveals devastating words of Jimmy Butler after ACL injury

After sustaining the ACL injury in his right knee, Butler was devastated as he wouldn't be able to bring his kids to the arcade.

Draymond Green had a first-hand look at Jimmy Butler's initial reaction after suffering from a brutal right knee injury, which was subsequently announced as a season-ending torn ACL.

In the latest episode of his Draymond Green Show, the Golden State Warriors star revealed that Butler was simply crushed by the fact that he wouldn't be having a good time with his kids upon sustaining the injury.

“First thing he said, sitting in that locker room was, ‘Man, I’m supposed to take my kids to the arcade in the morning.’ He said it four different times: ‘I’m not going to be able to take my kids to the arcade in the morning.’ Then we talked a little more. ‘Man, I’m supposed to take my kids to the arcade.’ That’s all he kept saying," Green said.

"He was just in this state of delirium. Completely delirious. I can only imagine what he felt, but he just kept saying, ‘I’m supposed to take my kids to the arcade.’ ”

Butler sustained the ACL injury last Monday in the Warriors' victory over the Heat. It is expected that he'll also miss the initial portion of the 2026-27 season.

The looming absence of the star forward completely changed the chances of the Dubs to compete for the title this year. With Butler out, it's hard to envision how Green and Stephen Curry can lead the Warriors alone to the top.

Beyond the basketball court, Green is heartbroken for Butler, given the toll that the ACL injury will give to the 36-year-old's personal time and life.

"I always speak about when people have these injuries, what everyone doesn’t understand is you live that every day," Green said. "It’s not a video game where you get hurt on the court and then walk away and life’s fine. You live that injury every single day. That’s what we give to this game—your health.

"We don’t get much free time anyway. You miss time with your kids, you miss time with your family, and for that to happen, that’s a big deal. That alters not only going to the arcade with his kids, but it alters their summer, their All-Star break. It alters so much. It alters life as they know it. So I’m wishing Jimmy a speedy recovery."
