Top East contender a potential trade team for Herb Jones

The Detroit Pistons are a possible trade suitor for the Pelicans forward according to Brett Siegel.

The Detroit Pistons could be positioned to obtain one of the league's premier defenders and trade candidates.

Detroit Pistons / Schedule

ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel revealed that the Pistons are open to trading Jaden Ivey. From this, the rising East squad can build a package of Ivey and several first-round picks to try to get Herbert Jones.

β€œThe Pistons are believed to be open to moving Jaden Ivey this season,” said Siegel. β€œ[Ivey] is gonna be a free agent in the offseason, I believe it's restricted free agency, and if there is a big move to present itself, the Pistons would be open to moving Ivey.

"Well, Herb Jones would be quite the statement. ... It's a move that would not break the bank. They could give up a draft pick or two and still be in good position to build with their young core.”

Jones has been generating tons of interest among teams from now until the Feb. 5 trade deadline, but it is commonly believed that the New Orleans Pelicans are steadfast in keeping him.

As such, his probable addition would be tremendous for the Pistons. Detroit is currently parading the second-best defensive rating in the league (108.4), and Jones can only bolster their lockdown identity.

As the Pelicans continue to commit themselves to the All-Defensive wing, the Pistons can only wait and monitor a possible change in their approach.
