Knicks insider dismisses Karl-Anthony Towns trade report

Contrary to recent reports, the Knicks aren't actually shopping the star center.

It was previously reported that the New York Knicks have made Karl-Anthony Towns available for trade, with a handful of teams linked to the star big man.

Despite the noise created by the news, SNY's longtime Knicks reporter Ian Begley made it clear that New York isn't actually discussing potential deals around Towns.

"I saw reports about the Knicks being open to trades. I checked around on Monday, and everything I gathered was that the Knicks are not having conversations about trading Karl-Anthony Towns," Begley said on The Putback.

"As of Monday, it was not happening."

The Towns trade came right after the Knicks endured their ninth loss in the last 11 games. On Monday night 114-97 loss against the Dallas Mavericks, the Knicks were booed by the Madison Square Garden crowd.

But the Knicks successfully bounced back last Wednesday against the Nets with a historic 120-66 beatdown against the Brooklyn Nets. Towns provided significant help on the dominant win with 14 points, eight boards, three dimes in just 20 minutes.

Towns saw his offensive numbers decline this season compared to last year. He is just averaging 20.8 points in 46.9 percent shooting.

The future of Towns in New York strongly depends on how this season will end for New York amid the franchise's title expectations.
