Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has put out the very latest on Chelsea’s fresh attempts to sign a new player this January.
Time is running out now and there is seemingly quite a lot to get done for many clubs scrambling around in this winter transfer window.

Chelsea are seemingly still trying to get some bits done, and there are a handful of players as well that they could still sell this window. But time is ticking.
One big deal they have been trying to get done of course is signing centre back Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes this window. However, that looks to have reached a sticky point and at this moment, has not gone anywhere other than negotiating a fee.
But the newest story off the blocks is Chelsea are considering signing former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz on a loan deal until the end of the season as they look to beef up their midfield options.
And now, they have gone as far as making the approach to sign him.

Fabrizio Romano put his latest out on this story last night on his YouTube channel.
He said:
“Chelsea have now made an approach to sign Douglas Luiz on loan.
“Talks are underway.
“Chelsea doesn’t want any obligation to buy Douglas Luiz. Only a loan deal with eventually a buy option.”
Decent option to add in
I’ve always rated Luiz, so not a bad option to add in some more experienced depth to our squad after the Romeo Lavia injury issues and Dario Essugo seemingly nowhere to be seen.
I think this could be a smart move on a dry loan with an option to buy at a decent fee.
