Chelsea have several options at centre back as they decide what to do about a move for Jeremy Jacquet according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues were expected to be quiet this month, but their plans have changed and they are looking to sign a new centre back.

Chelsea are said to have a three man shortlist, which includes Jacquet, Como’s Jacobo Ramon and Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi.

Chelsea have identified Rennes star Jacquet as their priority target, and have been in negotiations to try and get a deal done.

Jacquet is said to have agreed personal terms with Chelsea, but the Blues are yet to reach an agreement with Rennes, who are said to want £60m.

Chelsea are yet to make a first offer for the France under-21 international, but Rennes have been very clear with their stance.

It’s been reported one possibility could be to sign Jacquet and loan him back for the remainder of the season, and Romano has provided an update on the situation.

“Chelsea has a shortlist of names for CB, Jeremy Jacquet is a priority,” he told his YouTube channel.

“They also have the possibility to recall players, Anselmino, Sarr, so they have several options.

“It’s on Chelsea to decide what to do next.”

Whilst Chelsea are trying to bring a centre back in they already have two talented youngsters on their books in Mamadou Sarr and Aaron Anselmino.

It would be more cost effective to recall one of the duo, with Anselmino putting in a series of good performances for Borussia Dortmund.

Sarr likewise has impressed for Strasbourg, and knows Liam Rosenior having worked with him in France, whilst he also impressed for Senegal in the AFCON final.
