Arsenal are said to be eyeing a South American talent who recently received a first-team training call-up.

Arsenal are said to be eyeing a Brazilian talent who has recently joined firs-team training at his current club. The Gunners need to pivot when it comes to their transfer strategy after spending hundreds of millions over recent transfer windows.

The Gunners have spent big in a bid to realise their Premier League title dream, and it may well work out this season. Mikel Arteta’s men are seven points clear at the top of the league and looking like strong candidates to come out on top.

But while Arsenal do have plenty of money, Financial Fair Play regulations mean they will be fighting a losing battle if they want to keep spending such big amounts. At some point, there is going to have to be a strategy shift unless the Gunners plan to sell some of the talented players that come through their academy rather than using them, as they have with Myles Lewis-Skelly, Bukayo Saka and the likes.

Arsenal may also look to go in that direction, and according to a report from Globo, the Gunners are eyeing a possible deal for Corinthians youngster Iago Machado, who recently got called up to first-team training by Joaquim Grava.

The report claims Arsenal and Ajax are both keeping an eye on the defender’s progress, though it is worth noting that the signing would very much be one for the future. Regulations in Brazil dictate that a player can agree a transfer but cannot officially join a club outside of the region until they turn 18.

Those sorts of pre-agreed deals are something Chelsea have mastered over recent years, and Arsenal may well follow suit.
