Bayern Munich are prepared to potentially lose out on another centre-back target in Jérémy Jacquet this January.
Chelsea and Manchester City are understood to be in the mix for the Rennes star.
With the Blues heavily invested in getting this deal done, however, the 20-year-old’s switch to the Premier League could be set to accelerate in the coming days.
Jérémy Jacquet could follow Marc Guehi path

There are concerns in Munich that interest in Jacquet could follow a similar pattern to the club’s prior talks with Marc Guehi.
“Bayern Munich have a Marc Guehi problem,” Christian Falk exclusively informedCF Bayern Insider.
“There were many talks before, and I heard that Guehi was also interested in a move to Munich.
“But if a club like Manchester City knocks at your door, and you’re an English national player, and your club is open to selling you in January instead of letting you go for free in the summer (against Oliver Glasner’s wishes, of course), then you can see how this becomes a problem.”
Despite initial expectations that the England international would wait until the summer – when he was set to become a free agent – a move to the Sky Blues eventually transpired.
Much to the disappointment of both the Bavarian champions and Liverpool Football Club, who had both kept a watching brief on the centre-half.
Jérémy Jacquet is destined for a big club. That much is obvious. It's why he finished #6 in this year's SCOUTED50. But he also teaches us about how to evaluate different styles of defending based on role and responsibility. The spear and shield spectrum.

And now with the club coffers still not exactly bursting at the seams, it seems Jérémy Jacquet could likewise go the way of his Crystal Palace counterpart.
Falk went on to add: “It is the same problem with Jérémy Jacquet, as Bayern don’t have the money at the moment. They’d have to sell Kim Min-jae first.
“Chelsea and Manchester City are knocking on the Rennes defender’s door. If they offer €50m and Bayern say, ‘No, this is too much, because we have to sell first,’ then they will also lose the poker match for this player!”
Why are Chelsea so keen on Jacquet?

What immediately stands out for Jacquet is his aerial dominance. The Frenchman ranks in the 84th percentile compared to his positional peers in Ligue 1 for aerial duel win percentage, according to Fotmob.
Likewise, the centre-back is relatively strong in duels and is a creative presence even from the backline.
Jérémy Jacquet stats (per 90) Percentiles
0.51 chances created 88th percentile
57.1% accurate long ball % 76th percentile
65.4% duels won % 82nd percentile
71.4% aerial duels won % 84th percentile
0.13 dribbled past 78th percentile

With his game characterised by a dual threat on the pitch, the young defender evidently has the tools available to become a top-class defender.
It goes some way to explaining why Chelsea and Man City have their eyes on Jérémy Jacquet.
And why Bayern may very well miss out on the Frenchman’s signature in the January transfer window.
