Newcastle United are weighing up a summer move for Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White, according to reports.
The 25-year-old appeared to be on the verge of leaving the City Ground last summer after Tottenham triggered a release clause in his contract.
However, after owner Evangelos Marinakis threatened to sue, Gibbs-White eventually stayed at Forest, and he even signed a new contract keeping him with the Tricky Trees until the summer of 2028.

By the sound of things, that agreement may only have delayed his departure as TEAMtalk claim that Spurs are circling the England international once again, with the Magpies also now in the mix.
Newcastle have been after a No.10 for several years
Manager Eddie Howe has been keen on adding an attacking midfielder to his squad for quite some time. The club has pursued both James Maddison and Dominik Szoboszlai in the past, while the club actively tried to buy Joao Pedro last summer before he opted to join Chelsea instead.
It appears Gibbs-White is the latest no.10 under consideration. Despite Forest’s struggles, the playmaker has had a decent campaign so far, scoring 6 goals and providing 3 assists in 29 appearances.
Gibbs-White is not a priority for January
While the Englishman could be targeted at the end of the season, Howe is more concerned with strengthening other positions this month.
Injuries to Tino Livramento and Fabian Schar mean that the Magpies are short of options at both right-back and centre-back.
There is believed to be interest in the likes of Celta Vigo’s Oscar Mingueza, Sassuolo’s Tarik Muharemovic and Genoa’s Brooke Norton-Cuffy.
Captain Bruno Guimaraes also suffered an ankle injury during the 3-0 win over PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night, and Howe will be hoping that the issue isn’t serious. Otherwise, a move for no.8 may need to be considered as well.
