Liverpool boss Arne Slot has given an update on the club's transfer expectations with just over a week to go in the window, having not made a major signing so far

Arne Slot is not expecting Liverpool to make any major signings before the end of the January transfer window - although he has left the door open for some late business.
After a huge spending spree during the summer, the Reds have resisted dipping back into the market for any big-name signings this month. Mor Talla Ndiaye has been added to the academy ranks, while a deal for Austrian youth international Ifeanyi Ndukwe looks to be in the works.
No senior additions have been made though, despite Marc Guehi’s availability after a deadline day deal collapsed in the summer. The defender has subsequently completed a move to Manchester City.

With just over a week to go until the current window closes, time is running out should Liverpool want to add to its ranks for the remainder of the season. Slot though is not anticipating any late movement.
“Yeah, that’s what I expect,” Slot responded when asked whether his squad will remain as it is.
“But, as I always say, if there’s an opportunity in the market, or if we think we can strengthen the squad, then this club will always try to do so, but at this moment in time, I expect it to stay mainly the same.”

Despite injury problems leaving him short on options in defense, and Ibrahima Konate likely to remain unavailable this weekend following the death of his father, Slot insists he is still confident his current set of players can secure Champions League qualification for next season.
The Reds find themselves in a tight race for the top four, sitting just a point ahead of Manchester United in fifth, while only three points separates them from Sunderland in ninth.

“I am very confident because I work with these players every day, but it is always hard to predict the future,” Slot admitted.
“If these players all stay available we are in a very good place. But sometimes in football you can pick up injuries from nowhere, but I think these teams have shown always, if we are available, we are competitive against any team in the world.”

Liverpool.com says: It feels like a big risk if Liverpool is not planning on adding a new center-back before the end of the month. Konate will obviously come back at some point, but it feels like a gamble relying on him, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk to stay fit for the remainder of the season, especially when Gomez might be needed as backup at right-back.
