Spurs keen to bring 31-year-old to London during this window
Scotland captain Andy Robertson is closing in on a move to Tottenham Hotspur from Liverpool, according to reports south of the border.
Robertson is in the final six months of his contract at Anfield and while Spurs were one of many clubs eyeing him up for a free transfer after this summer’s World Cup, their manager Thomas Frank wants the 31-year-old in his squad for the second half of the campaign. It is claimed that negotiations are advancing between all parties.
Capped 90 times by Scotland, Robertson is set to lead the national team at the World Cup. Steve Clarke’s men are in Group C alongside Haiti, Morocco and Brazil and while the left-back is not a first-team regular at Liverpool, he remains an integral part of the Scotland set-up.

Robertson was heavily linked with Atletico Madrid last summer, but opted to stay at Liverpool despite the arrival of younger left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. He has made 21 appearances across all competition this season for Arne Slot’s Reds.
Robertson joined Liverpool in 2016 and has won the Premier League and Champions League across a decorated ten-year spell on Merseyside. He has played 363 games in total for the club and is currently one of the vice-captains.
However, with his contract running down and no guarantee of first-team football, Robertson has been exploring his options - and now a move in the January window appears likely.
Commenting earlier this month, Robertson said: “I’ve got five months left and we need to see what the option is to stay or if there’s options to go and things like that. I need to sit down with my family and decide.
“After a stressful summer, I’m just trying to enjoy being a part of it and being a Liverpool player. I wanted to qualify for the World Cup and thankfully, we’ve managed to do that. I need to see what myself and my family wants going forward.”

Tottenham currently sit 14th in the English Premiership and while they are going well in the Champions League, their domestic form has put pressure on Frank, who replaced former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou as manager last summer.
The Dane is keen to add experience to his squad before the window closes on February 2 and left-back has been identified as an area that requires attention, with Ben Davies, Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie currently their main options in that department. Davies, however, requires an operation after recently injuring his ankle.
Should Robertson decide to depart Liverpool this month, he will be recalled as one of their most iconic left-backs. He has won nine trophies at Anfield since his arrival from Hull City.
