Tottenham have launched a surprise bid to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool.
The Scotland star has been at Anfield for most of his career, joining nine years ago in 2017, and establishing himself as a modern great.

While still maintaining a crucial leadership role as a vice-captain, Robertson has been reduced to a bit-part player this season following the arrival of Milos Kerkez.
As first reported by The Athletic, the Reds are now in talks with Spurs over an unexpected January move for the 31-year-old.
talkSPORT understands there is still much work to be done before a deal is completed, but discussions are advancing between the two clubs in an effort to reach an agreement before the end of the transfer window.
Robertson is out of contract in the summer and Tottenham have brought forward pre-existing plans to sign him as a free agent.

This is a move that has come out of the blue, but Spurs are trying to add what would be a top quality addition to Thomas Frank's team.
Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull City, following their relegation from the Premier League in 2017.
The fee was an initial £8million, which given what he has gone on to achieve must be one of the best deals in Premier League history.
Kerkez's arrival has seen the left-back play just 496 minutes in the Premier League this year, but he would be an excellent signing for Spurs.
Thomas Frank has already seen Conor Gallagher join this month from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth around £35million.
But given Destiny Udogie's injury problems, Robertson could be exactly what Tottenham need as they look to salvage their domestic season.
Spurs are currently in the bottom half of the table after losing 2-1 to West Ham United, and they are out of both domestic cups.

Robertson's Liverpool career
Initially signing for Jurgen Klopp, Robertson became part of the best full-back duo in the world.
On the other side, he had Trent Alexander-Arnold, and the Scottish international could often be seen bombing up and down both flanks.
As he's aged, that part of his game has gone, but he still played a vital role in Liverpool's Premier League title win under Arne Slot last season.
Robertson made 33 Premier League appearances as the Reds blew everyone away.
Overall, he has made 363 appearances for the Reds in nearly nine years at Anfield.
In that time, he's won everything, including the Premier League twice and Champions League.
It appeared as if he would be leaving in the summer, with contract talks not really progressing.

Speaking about his future earlier this month, he said: “We’ve had chats now which will remain private; we’ll see what happens.
“I’ve got five months left and we need to see the option to stay or if there’s options to go and things like that. I’ll sit down with my family and decide.
“After a stressful summer, I’m just trying to enjoy being a part of it,
and being a Liverpool player. I wanted to qualify for the World Cup, and thankfully, we’ve managed to do that. I need to see what myself and my family wants.”
But if he is to leave, then what a career, and he has nothing but pride when looking back at it.
I’ve given absolutely everything for the club and the club have been very good to me. They have rewarded me with good contracts when I have been playing well.
"Nobody can deny what I have given to this club. I’ve given everything day in and day out and put in some performances, which I think have been good and I hope others agree.
"I’ve won a lot of trophies and had a lot of good days here.
“My relationship with the people higher up in the club has always been excellent. Signing me for £8m [from Hull City in 2017] and then doing what I have done helps that.

"I remind people of that all the time. The relationship is good. We’ve shown each other more than enough respect over the last eight-and-a-half years and we’ll see what comes.”
If this is to be the end of his time as Liverpool player, he'll no doubt go with the well wishes of everyone fan because he has been incredible.
