Liverpool fans have pushed a transfer theory after Andy Robertson's shock talks with Tottenham Hotspur.
Robertson, 31, is out of contract in the summer - and Spurs had been one of the clubs interested in the left-back's services when his contract is up. However they have brought forward plans, according to The Athletic, as Thomas Frank wants immediate defensive reinforcements and is eyeing the Merseysider's vice-captain.
Spurs have been thin on the ground at left-back this season with their recognised first choice Destiny Udogie only making 10 starts in the Premier League; Djed Spence, Archie Gray and Micky van de Ven have all been used as cover.

And its the latter name that has been linked to Liverpool. Van de Ven, a centre back by trade, has three-and-a-half years left on his current deal, which expires in the summer of 2029, and resisted attempts to tie him down to a long-term deal.
The Premier League champions are expected to move for a top central defender in the summer after missing out on a deal for Marc Guehi, who joined Manchester City last week, and with 26-year-old Ibrahima Konate's contract expiring in June.
It was claimed on Wednesday that Liverpool are 'developing a keen interest' in the 24-year-old. And fans think the Robertson talks could be a sweetener for the Dutchman.
One Spurs fan said: "Don't really see the point in the Robertson signing when there are areas of much higher concern. I also feel, and I hope I’m wrong, this deal may be a sweetener for VDV going the other way in the summer..."

"If Robertson is going to Spurs then there's something going on in terms on Van der Ven," a second said. And another added: "Perhaps letting Robertson go in Jan is a sweetener for a future VDV deal in the summer? Just a thought!
Questioned on the club reportedly placing a £100m-plus price tag on Van de Ven, Thomas Frank replied at his news conference on Thursday: "He's very important for us, so Micky's a Tottenham player now and for the future."

He added: "I've just seen Micky today. He seems very happy, smiling. He was very happy after the game that we won when he was in the changing room after the game. Micky's an excellent player; he's a fantastic ambassador for this club.
"He's having potentially his best season so far. He's fit, he's strong, good defensively, he's growing as a leader, scoring goals as well, and he's a very important player for us this season and for the future."
