Report: Tottenham still interested in signing Curtis Jones

Liverpool were hit with a transfer warning over Curtis Jones last week when it emerged that Tottenham were sniffing around the England midfielder.

Jones, 24, is only under contract until 2027 at Anfield and therefore there could be an opportunity for interested parties to put pressure on Richard Hughes.

Having last signed a contract renewal back in 2022 - when he was a squad player under Jurgen Klopp - Jones is not among the top earners on Merseyside.

And given Liverpool have got the highest wage bill in the Premier League there might not be enough money on offer to satisfy his wage demands on a new deal.

Tottenham sign Conor Gallagher

So if sporting director Hughes concludes that the homegrown talent will NOT sign a new deal then it makes sense to cash in.

Any money brought in for Jones would go down as “pure profit” given his homegrown status and facilitate further spending in summer and beyond.

The Premier League champions might have been forgiven for breathing a sigh of relief when Spurs instead completed a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher.

However the Daily Mail is now claiming that Tottenham’s interest hasn’t gone away and they are STILL seeking a deal for Jones.
