“He said to me” – Chelsea ace details new role he’s “really enjoying” under Liam Rosenior

Malo Gusto has revealed he’s really enjoying playing under new head coach Liam Rosenior as he detailed his new role in the team.

The France international has been back to some of his best form this season, and Gusto has scored two goals this campaign.

Gusto is competing with Reece James for minutes at right back, and has made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and registering three assists.

The 23-year-old found himself appearing in the number ten position under Enzo Maresca, something fans criticised the Italian for doing.

However, Gusto continued to appear in advanced attacking positions in the win against Pafos on Wednesday night, and he’s explained his role in the side under Rosenior.

“He said to me to be a bit more free on the pitch, to change more my position during the game,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“Sometimes I can go in the pocket, sometimes I can go wide, but it’s more or less the same way to play which is good because it means there haven’t been a lot of changes for us.

“I like to attack, of course, that’s my type of game. I’m really enjoying playing this system and being more free.

“Now it’s a matter of keeping improving to help the team as much as possible.”

Rosenior has overseen three wins in his first four games, and Gusto added the 41-year-old has settled into his new role well.

“It’s a new era with new tactics and new things to improve,” Gusto added.
