Yan Diomande is a player that has attracted interest from Liverpool as well as plenty of European heavyweights.
Liverpool have emerged as one of several top European clubs monitoring RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, according to multiple reports, as the Reds continue to assess future attacking reinforcements. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international has enjoyed a meteoric rise since joining Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes last summer for €20 million, quickly establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young talents.
Diomande has been in sensational form for Leipzig this season, registering six goals and two assists in 16 Bundesliga appearances, and he has has publicly expressed his admiration for the club. “I want to represent Liverpool. I’m a huge fan of Liverpool,” the teenager revealed during a TikTok stream. “My father’s dream is to watch me play at Anfield. So fulfilling that dream is also my aspiration”.
Any potential transfer would come at a significant cost. RB Leipzig officials have made their position crystal clear: Diomande is not for sale on the cheap.
Oliver Mintzlaff, chairman of Red Bull’s supervisory board, stated emphatically: “As chairman of the supervisory board, I can confidently say he will definitely remain with us next season — even if an offer of €80 or €90 million were to come in”.
Multiple reports suggest Leipzig have set a minimum asking price of €100 million (£87 million) for the winger, who is contracted until 2030 with no release clause. Some sources indicate the German club could demand even more, with figures as high as €120 million mentioned for a January departure.
But it seems that this price is putting off Liverpool and other sides from making a bid. Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has reported:
“RB Leipzig’s £87m (€100m) demand for Yan Diomande is putting clubs off making a bid this month,” he wrote.
“Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United are among a number of teams who are monitoring the Ivory Coast winger.”
“Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also watching him closely.”
“But it is believed clubs are currently not prepared to make an offer given the asking price is so high.”
“Diomande therefore looks likely to be one of the main names to watch in this summer’s window, especially if his performances continue to improve even further.”
Arne Slot has already asserted that there will likely be no January business in the last days of the window.
