Tottenham have been ‘offered’ the chance to pursue another Premier League deal amid talks over Andy Robertson.

Champions League football aside, Tottenham have had a very disappointing campaign, sat in the bottom half again and with Thomas Frank fighting for his job.

Injuries haven’t helped over recent weeks, with Rodrigo Bentancur, Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison set for lengthy spells on the sidelines, but even those injuries couldn’t excuse a home defeat to strugglers West Ham last weekend, and that was just the latest example.

But Frank is being backed for now, and the board are well aware that this squad needs improving if there is any chance of Spurs competing for a European spot this season, which is not out of the question with a consistent run of form.

The latest report suggests Spurs could sign Andrew Robertson from Liverpool in a huge swoop. The experienced full-back is out of contract in the summer, and it seems Spurs are willing to pay now rather than wait for a free deal and risk losing out to competition.

David Ornstein posted on X: “Tottenham Hotspur working on deal to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool. #THFC brought forward plan to vie for 31yo #LFC left-back as free agent this summer; not done but talks between all parties advancing in bid to reach agreement @TheAthleticFC.“

The 31-year-old would certainly be an upgrade for Spurs, given his top-level experience, and it would likely mean Destiny Udogie competes with the Scot on the left, while Djed Spence and Pedro Porro would fight it out for starts on the right.

Spurs could follow Robertson with another Premier League transfer

While the talks over Robertson play out, it’s being reported that Spurs have been offered the chance to upgrade their centre-back position with Chelsea outcast Axel Disasi. Disasi was frozen out under Enzo Maresca but Liam Rosenior has promised to give him an opportunity to train with the first team.

Still, a departure is likely, and according to Ben Jacobs via YouTube, Spurs have been given the chance to land Disasi. Jacobs said: “They’ve reintegrated Axel Disasi, and my feeling there is that Chelsea can have their cake and eat it, because if they speak highly about Disasi and take him out of the bomb squad, which they’ve done, then obviously, if people come in.

“Chelsea are in a stronger position in the market to sell, and the likes of Tottenham in the past, just before Disasi went on loan to Villa, not that they’re there now, but they’ve looked, and therefore, the player has been offered back to Spurs. I don’t think anything’s going to happen there.”

Disasi signing could be wise

While Disasi is likely to cost over £30million this month, it may be a good idea for Spurs to consider the deal given concerns over the long-term futures of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. Meanwhile, Radu Dragusin could leave the club this month, and Ben Davies is out of contract in the summer, and the Welshman is also out for months with an ankle injury.

Spurs could do with depth at centre-back, and £30million or so would be a decent price for a 27-year-old with Premier League experience, albeit he does need to get match fitness back after months without first-team football.
