Liverpool secure Andy Robertson replacement as Tottenham agree transfer terms

Liverpool are reportedly in discussions with Tottenham Hotspur regarding a potential transfer for Andy Robertson, with the club's next move becoming increasingly apparent should the Scotsman depart. The revelation came shortly after Arne Slot conceded he anticipates no fresh arrivals before the January transfer deadline.

Nevertheless, it's been reported that Liverpool are holding discussions about selling their vice-captain to fellow Premier League side Spurs, conscious that his current deal is set to run out at the season's end. The club have yet to make a definitive decision on whether to sanction a move, but terms have been agreed between the north Londoners and Robertson himself, according to TEAMtalk.

Crucially, the Reds are unlikely to sanction the 31-year-old's departure if doing so would leave them undermanned in his position.

Whilst Robertson has been a consistent starter throughout his Anfield career, he has now been displaced by Milos Kerkez, who joined from Bournemouth in a £40m deal last summer.

That transfer also paved the way for Kostas Tsimikas to secure a season-long loan switch to AS Roma on summer deadline day.

However, the report adds that Liverpool are ready to recall the Greek defender to replace Robertson in their Premier League squad.

He has managed only eight starts - totalling 16 appearances - for Roma this season as they pursue Champions League qualification for next term.

Just last month, Tsimikas confessed to missing life in Liverpool for a variety of reasons.

"You never know [what will happen]," he said. "The most important thing for me is to be healthy, to train hard, to play more games.

"Next year is a different story for me. I want to be successful, I want to win things. Only God knows what will happen in the next year.

"I miss the city [of Liverpool]. I lived there for five years. I love everything in Liverpool. They have a special part of my heart.

"The people are very kind, some of the kindest I've ever met in football. They'd always try to support the team, in good, in bad, they would always do their best to try to help you.

"I want everything for this club, because from day one, I was fully committed there. I was the Greek Scouser and I always will be, I'll keep it for my whole life."
