David Ornstein Hints At Next£57m Arsenal Signing As They’ve Been Left“Short”In One Area

David Ornstein has hinted that Arsenal could sign a right-back next, as they have been left “short” at the position.

The Gunners are heading into their next game against Manchester United, hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table. Mikel Arteta won’t underestimate United, who beat rivals Man City in their last match.

Arsenal are yet to make any signings in January, but there is a chance that the Gunners could bring in another defender before the end of the window, in order to cement their incredible depth.

Ornstein says Arsenal could sign a right-back

In a recent transfer update whilst appearing on Sky Sports News, Journalist David Ornstein suggested that Arsenal may not make any signings in January, but he then suggested that whether they do this month or in summer, they might address the right-back position.

Ornstein said: “I think right-back is a really interesting area for Arsenal that’s probably been on their long-term agenda. It’s zero disrespect to Ben White, Timber, they can both play in different positions, they can both be part of the depth of squad, or starters.

“But, they’ve both, White more recently, Timber historically, had injury problems, and it has occasionally left Arsenal short in that area. It wouldn’t surprise me if they are looking around there.”

Which right-back could the Gunners sign?

In terms of potential signings, there is one name who has been linked with a move to Arsenal since the summer transfer window, and it is Eintracht Frankfurt full-back Nathaniel Brown, who has also attracted the attention of Man United.

Brown is expected to cost up to £57m though, so he would likely be more of a signing for the summer, but could really boost Arsenal’s already strong defensive options at Arteta’s disposal.

This season, the 23-year-old has made 17 Bundesliga appearances for Frankfurt, and seven Champions League appearances, but he could see a move in the summer.
