Fermin Lopez has become a hot topic in the transfer market in the wake of his consistency at Barcelona.

Since his breakthrough, the Spaniard has been a lethal weapon for Barcelona in the final third and his performances have not gone unnoticed either, with several European clubs interested in his services.

Barcelona are well aware of the interest and have already made their first move in the bid to retain the services of Fermin.

A recent report from Diario SPORT has offered an update on the future of Fermin Lopez, suggesting that Barcelona had a meeting with the player’s agents yesterday.

The Catalans informed their desire to keep hold of Fermin’s services in the years to come, with the club even prepared to significantly increase the player’s salary.

Barcelona’s plan is to renew Fermin’s contract for another two years. This could see his current deal at Camp Nou, which runs until 2029, extend till 2031.

Fermin, for his part, is also keen on continuing his spell at Barcelona and has no desire to leave the club in the near future.

This comes against the backdrop of several European clubs expressing interest in the Spanish international following his recent breakthrough.

Fermin was one of the players linked with a move away from Barça last summer. But the club decided to keep hold of the La Masia graduate, who has become a critical part of the team’s offensive unit.

Indeed, Fermin has already racked up 10 goals and 10 assists in all competitions, making him one of the most productive players for the club.

For now, though, there is no urgency regarding Fermin’s contract extension, but both parties are on the same page and want to extend the contract.
