The Milwaukee Bucks are considering several trade options to strengthen their roster and keep Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee. Potential moves could involve Kyle Kuzma, Bobby Portis, and other players, with the goal of adding high-level talent that helps the Bucks compete and convinces Giannis to stay.
The Milwaukee Bucks are facing a tricky situation as they try to maintain their championship window while keeping Giannis Antetokounmpo in the fold.
Milwaukee Bucks / Schedule
The 31-year-old superstar is currently putting up 28.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, but the Bucks sit 11th in the Eastern Conference with an 18–25 record, far below expectations.
One of the main challenges for Milwaukee is their lack of high-level, movable contracts. Outside of Myles Turner ($25.3 million), Kyle Kuzma ($22.4 million), and Bobby Portis ($13.4 million), most of the roster is on minimum or near-minimum deals.
Kevin Porter Jr. ($5.1 million) and Ryan Rollins ($4 million) are two other exceptions. This limits the Bucks’ ability to trade for highly paid talent that could help turn the season around.
The Athletic proposed several trade ideas that are theoretically possible under the current NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Among them:
First trade
Milwaukee Bucks receive: Zach LaVine, Drew Eubanks.
Sacramento Kings receive: Kyle Kuzma, Bobby Portis, Amir Coffey, and Cole Anthony.
Second trade
Milwaukee Bucks receive: RJ Barrett.
Toronto Raptors receive: Kyle Kuzma and a 2026 first-round pick swap.
Third trade
Milwaukee Bucks receive: Grant Williams.
Charlotte Hornets receive: Gary Harris, Taurean Prince.
Fourth trade
Milwaukee Bucks receive: Caleb Martin.
Dallas Mavericks receive: Amir Coffey, Jericho Sims.
Fifth trade
Milwaukee Bucks receive: Ochai Agbaji.
Toronto Raptors receive: Gary Harris.
Each deal comes with its own challenges, including matching salaries, draft capital, and roster fit.
But the Bucks are under pressure to make a move, as keeping Giannis happy and competitive in Milwaukee will likely require adding talent capable of complementing him immediately.
With the trade deadline approaching, all eyes will be on the Bucks’ front office. Any significant acquisition could help the team climb the standings and convince Giannis that Milwaukee remains the best place to compete for another championship.
