New Bournemouth signing Alex Toth could be in line to make his debut against Liverpool at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Cherries officially confirmed the signing of the 20-year-old Hungarian starlet earlier this week in a deal that could ultimately cost £13 million with performance-related add-ons. The transfer represents a Premier League record from the Hungarian league. Having played with both Milos Kerkez and Dominik Szoboszlai with the national team, both Reds compatriots took to Instagram this week to welcome Toth to the Premier League.
Of course, he will have only had a had a few training sessions at the new, state-of-the-art training ground, the AFC Bournemouth Performance Centre, this week. But it seems that he could feature in some shape or form, with manager Andoni Iraola confirming in his pre-Liverpool press conference that Toth is “available” and that he “needs him”:
Iraola said: “He’s definitely available.”
“In the situation that we find ourselves right now, he has to be ready because we will need him.”
“I feel like he has come with the hunger of showing his level and I hope he helps us as soon as possible.”
Former Liverpool man Robbie Keane has been credited for playing a big role in Toth’s development as manager of his now former side Ferencvaros. Keane revealed after the move that Toth sent him a lengthy message thanking him for all he did for his career so far:
“He sent me a long message, thanking me that I changed his life. I called my wife and started crying even though I barely cry. But I helped someone achieve their dream,” the former Reds man said.
